The director's chair: Patrick's creative vision
With It’s a Love Hate Thing, I want to create an adult workplace romantic comedy that feels honest, sharp, and unapologetically funny. The humor comes from capable people trapped inside a failing company where ridiculous policies, fake enthusiasm, artificial intelligence, and corporate politics have slowly replaced common sense.
Bob and Bennett are not opposites because the story needs conflict—they are two intelligent, stubborn people who recognize themselves in each other and hate how vulnerable that makes them feel. Their romance grows through competition, exhaustion, brutal honesty, and 72 hours of chaos.
Visually, the film will balance polished corporate surroundings with the gradual destruction caused by a weekend of pressure. The comedy will remain natural and deadpan; nobody performs the joke. Beneath the sarcasm, THC gummies, sexual tension, and workplace insanity is a sincere story about burnout, trust, and finding love in the person you were prepared to hate.
ONE OTHER THING: 'GO BILLS!'
